The short version
- You can play as a guest with no account needed. To power the global leaderboard, your best score and a randomly-generated nickname are also stored in the cloud under an anonymous ID.
- The free App shows ads (Google AdMob). You can make a one-time purchase to remove them.
- We only collect account data if you choose to sign in to sync your progress.
- We never sell your personal data.
What we collect (only when you sign in)
If you sign in with Google, Apple, or email to sync your progress, we collect:
- Account identifier & email — a unique ID and the email address from your chosen sign-in provider, used to recognise your account. (With Sign in with Apple you may share a private relay email instead.)
- Display name — only if you add one.
- Profile photo — only if you add one. To set a photo, the App asks to use your camera or photo library; the image is uploaded only when you choose it.
- Best score — so your progress follows your account across devices.
Leaderboard (guests included)
The game has a global leaderboard. So that everyone — including players who never sign in — can appear on it, we store your best score together with a randomly-generated nickname (such as "Clever Panda 1234"), your device platform (iOS or Android), and an approximate country derived from your device's region setting, in the cloud under an anonymous identifier created on your device. This guest profile contains no name, email, or other personal information. If you later sign in, your leaderboard entry is linked to your account and shows the name you choose.
How we use it
- To recognise your account and sign you in.
- To show your name and photo on your profile.
- To save and sync your best score across your devices.
We do not sell your personal data. Your account information (name, email, photo, best score) is used only to run your account — it is not used for advertising or profiling. Advertising data is handled separately, as described below.
Advertising
The free version of the App shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To serve, cap, and measure ads — and to detect fraud — AdMob and its advertising partners may collect and process your device's advertising identifier (Apple's IDFA or Google's Advertising ID), along with general device and ad-interaction information. We do not share your name, email, or game progress with advertisers.
On iOS, we ask through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before any identifier is used for personalised ads. If you decline — or where required by law — you still see ads, but non-personalised ones. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device's settings at any time.
We currently use Google AdMob only. In future we may add ad mediation partners (for example Meta Audience Network, AppLovin, Unity Ads, ironSource, or similar) to help fill ad inventory. Any such partner would process advertising data under its own privacy policy, and we will update this page accordingly.
How Google uses advertising data: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
In-app purchases
The App offers an optional one-time "Remove Ads" purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we never see or store your payment-card details. The store gives us a purchase receipt, which we validate (on our server) before unlocking the feature.
If you are signed in, we store a simple flag on your account recording that ads are removed, so your purchase follows you across devices and can be restored by signing in to the same account or tapping "Restore Purchases". Guests can restore through the App Store / Google Play on the same device.
Where your data is stored
Account data is processed and stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage) on Google's secure infrastructure on our behalf.
Third-party services
The App relies on these providers, each under its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob — advertising — policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple App Store & Google Play — processing in-app purchases.
- Sign in with Google / Firebase (Google) — account & sync — policies.google.com/privacy
- Sign in with Apple (Apple) — apple.com/legal/privacy
If we later add ad mediation partners (e.g. Meta Audience Network, AppLovin, Unity Ads), they will be listed here.
Your choices & rights
From Settings → Manage Account inside the App you can at any time:
- Change or remove your display name and profile photo.
- Sign out.
- Permanently delete your account and everything stored with it (name, photo, best score).
You may also email us to access or delete your data. Subject to applicable law (including UK/EU GDPR), you can request access, correction, deletion, or portability of your personal data.
Data retention
We keep your account data only while your account exists. When you delete your account, the associated data is deleted.
Children
Hersey SudoBlock is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the effective date above and post the new version on this page.
